History and Expansion
The company was founded in 1872 in Ciudad Real, Spain, by the Garcia de la Cruz family. Initially, it started as a small olive oil mill, serving the local community with its products. Over the years, the company's reputation for producing exceptional olive oil grew, and it began to expand its operations.
In the 1950s, Garcia de la Cruz started to export its olive oil to different countries, including the United States and various European countries. This expansion into international markets helped the company gain recognition and establish its presence outside of Spain.
In the following decades, Garcia de la Cruz continued to invest in modernizing its production facilities and improving its processes. This commitment to innovation and quality allowed the company to meet the evolving demands of the market and stay competitive.
In the 1990s, Garcia de la Cruz further expanded its business by diversifying its product range. In addition to extra virgin olive oil, the company introduced new varieties, such as organic olive oil and flavored olive oil. This expansion into different product categories helped Garcia de la Cruz cater to a wider range of consumer preferences and increase its customer base. Garcia de la Cruz is the number one Spanish brand EVOO in Japan today!
In 2016 Eusebio Garcia de la Cruz decided to tackle the USA market with the understanding it would take years of effort and investment to penetrate this large and growing market so he decided to move his family to the USA to establish a presence. It has paid off as the brand is in thousands of stores throughout the USA including the flagship natural food chain Whole Foods Markets. The focus now is expanding in two directions at least, growing the number of retail outlets and adding more products like olives to the brand.
Today Garcia de la Cruz sells to over 40 countries around the world and continues to expand each year to add to its growing base of operations, including tripling the storage capability at our plant in Spain.
